JR Pass

Japan Rail Pass

  • Only available for foreign tourists visiting Japan, the Japan Rail Pass is a good deal if you plan on traveling a lot between cities in Japan.

  • The JR Pass offers unlimited travel without a train ticket for 7, 14, or 21 days.

  • The JR Pass is available on all the JR train lines and Shinkansen except the Nozomi and Mizuho Shinkansen.

The Japan Rail Pass can be purchased online or with a travel agency only outside of Japan.

After purchasing the JR Pass, you will receive a JR Pass voucher that you will exchange for the actual JR Pass after your arrival.

Upon arrival or later during your journey, you can go to one of the many JR Travel Service Centers available in all the JR Railway stations and international airports such as Tokyo Narita, Haneda, or Osaka Kansai KIX.

Once retrieving your JR Pass, you will write on it the starting date of use.

Once the chosen date is written, you cannot modify it anymore.

No need to start your JR Pass immediately on your day of arrival if you intend to stay several days in Osaka or Tokyo for instance.

Purchasing a JR Pass is a great opportunity to save money on your travels.

Prices are as follows:

  • 7-day pass: 29,650 yen per person

  • 14-day pass: 47,250 yen per person

  • 21-day pass: 60,450 yen per person

  • Half-price for all kids under 11 years old
